We have spent the last 3 nights free in the Walmart Parking lot in Las Cruces . We have found that when we are exploring a town, we might as well leave the RV in a parking lot.
Drove down to El Paso, TX to pick up a few more Satillo tile so Jerry could do some repairs on the originals….Once there he called the company to see what their address is…they are NOT located in El Paso but rather near Austin an 8 hour drive. Needless to say drove back w/o additional tile. Other than that, El Paso is not worth visiting!
Spent yesterday (Saturday) attending the rather large Las Cruces Farmer’s Market and then toured the town looking for the nice housing around the University – NONE. We then drove over to La Mesilla, the 1800’s village with original buildings that are now artsy shops, etc. A fun day all in all. On to Caballo State Park which is about 60 miles north of Las Cruces to camp a few nights. We have to start planning our route back. Had hoped to go to LA to take Hilary to the Airport but she doesn’t haven’t a definite date yet so we will head home planning to be there April 4th or 5th.
Jerry’s Lessons Learned:
When baking cinnamon rolls (ah come on, we are roughing it), close the screen door. Bees love to come in and see what’s cooking.
Our generator shares the gas tank. To ensure the generator does not drain the tank, the system shuts down when the fuel drops to ¼ of a tank. NEVER EVER let the gas level drop to ¼ of a tank on the day your wife wants to watch American Idol.
If you eat a lot of Mexican food, you will begin to develop an accent. Si?
When you are out walking after a day on the road and HAPPEN TO SEE A LUG NUT ON THE ROAD, pick it up and check your rig. I panicked when the lug nut was actually from our rig and a second was missing. Images of the rear tire passing me on the highway and running over a senior citizen flashed through my mind. It’s enough to make you want to run out and eat Mexican food. As it turned out, the lugs held only the chrome cover and we were never in danger of loosing a tire. Phew!
Who ever said a box of Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies would last more than a day was wrong!

Steve just quipped: "Mine lasted two" and yes, Jerry - he ate the entire packet himself! Your sunshine pics make me want to hit the road again. I think it's rained 4 inches since we reached our front door :(
